This issue of releasing captives, or prisoners, is sacred. Why? Christ said in Luke, in quotes, “He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives”. If you take issue with this, take issue with the Bible.
So what’s the big lie, and what ought we fix in America?
The big lie is that “soft on crime” policies, or the lack of “tough on crime” policies, which include egregious acts of injustice, are principally responsible for crime surges. They affect 350,000 in U.S. prisons for drug offenses, including the man Mississippi pictured behind me to life in prison, to never taste the American promise of freedom and liberty and justice for all, for marijuana possession, with no violent criminal history, except two sentences he had served a whopping 15 years before that should in no way define him whatsoever – he suffered and served hard time for it already. This is a travesty and miscarriage of justice, and spits on the 8th amendment’s prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment the the Declaration’s promise of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and the Constitution’s promise of “life, liberty, and property”.
Here’s the quick debunk: Both Red and Blue states had murder rates that increased by 2.2 points on average since 2018. Absolutely no difference. “Tough on crime” red states, since they usually tend towards that direction, did no better. It absolutely does NOT have to do with – the crime increase recently experienced, even though the murder rate is lower than it was decades ago and decreased this year – it does NOT have do in bulk with the fact of Blue state policies or so-called tough on crime policies – in other words, unfair sentencing for minor offenses like drug crimes.
