In the Gospel of Matthew, verses 21 to 22, Jesus tells his disciples ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, “Be lifted up and thrown into the sea”, it will be done. Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.’
Christ told us, over 2,000 years ago, one of the key aspects of the Christian life, and something replicated by Christians countless number of times since his resurrection, every day, incorporated into our daily lives. And science bears it out – a 2006 meta-analysis, one of whose authors was Masters, was unfortunately anti-prayer and its authors had a bias against the feasibility or reality of prayer, and yet found themselves that we can have 95% confidence of prayer for a group of sick patients working. Science, in this case statistics, shows clear and convincing evidence that it works.
Let us pray for every minutiae of our life – if we are feeling depressed, even to feel better from our depression – and indeed our prayers will doubtlessly be answered if we believe and hold steadfast in that belief, even as we are waiting for our prayers’ answers – as God often delays for some reason or another, or to teach us somehow.
God bless you all.
