In the Gospel, Luke explicitly talks FREEING prisoners, not just visiting them.
Do you know what Christ declared as he began his ministry as Messiah? “The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” Luke chapter 4, verses 18 to 19.
America and her wonderful flag is currently soaked in the blood of innocents and drenched in injustice. Roughly 2,000 children are aborted a day, and 350,000 drug offenders are behind bars as we speak – sometimes for crimes as small as possession of marijuana, and a life sentence, with no violent priors, as is the case with the man pictured behind me, who the Mississippi Supreme Court ruled will never see liberty or freedom ever again – running afoul of America’s more cherished and inviolable values, the bedrock on which the nation stands. His name is Allan Russell, and he is not alone in serving a life sentence for a low-level drug offense.
We must act, as speak out. The Gospel commands us to. As Ephesians 5:11 states, “Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.”
